Written and produced by Andrea Martin, the track was sent to radio outlets as the album's lead single on February 28, 2009. It heavily samples the 1968 hit "Time of the Season" by The Zombies.

Chart performance

"Give It to Me Right" debuted on the Canadian Hot 100 at number ninety-six on the issue date of March 7, 2009; it has so far peaked at number twenty. The song has also gained U.S. success debuting at number ninety-five on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs the week of March 14, 2009 and later peaking at number fifty-seven. In Italy the single debuted at number sixty-four the week of May 1, 2009, jumping to its peak position of number nine the following week. It has also peaked at number forty-one on the UK Singles Chart, but fell twenty-three places to number sixty-four the week after its peak.
