Events
The limitations of the new Gladiators arena meant that there was only room for 8 events - 7 events from the original series: Duel, Gauntlet, Hang Tough, Hit & Run, Powerball, Pyramid and The Wall, Plus a brand new event called Earthquake. Changes from the original series include Hang Tough, Duel and Hit & Run now being played over water. All the events were used in rotation, different from the original series as some games featured dominantly over others. The Eliminator featured a swimming section and a climb to the top of the Pyramid.

Aired on 6 July 2008, a special celebrity edition was shown between the heats and the quarter-finals. The celebrities that competed in this edition included: Danielle Lloyd of Celebrity Big Brother fame, Bianca Gascoigne, Anthony Quinlan from Hollyoaks and MC Harvey. The two winners each received £5,000 for a charity of their choice, splitting their winnings between their two choices.
The Legends Return
Aired on 31 August 2008, a selection of the original Gladiators - Lightning, Rebel, Rocket, Flame, Ace, Hunter, Trojan And Wolf - returned to compete as contenders against the new Gladiators. In the women's competition, the legends were successful, but in the men's competition, the new gladiators won after gladiator Trojan had awful trouble with the Cargo Net.
Battle of the Forces
Aired on 16 November 2008, this special saw challengers from the RAF, Navy and Army take on the Gladiators. Both categories (Male And Female) were won by the Army, a completely different outcome to the second battle of the forces, in which contenders from the RAF and Navy triumphantly won over the Army.
