Glass City Con (formerly GarasuNoShiCon) is an annual two day anime convention held during July/August at the SeaGate Convention Centre in Toledo, Ohio.[4][5][6] GarasuNoShiCon in Japanese means "Glass City Convention".[1][7]
Programming
The convention typically offers anime screenings, artist alley, cosplay competition, gaming (card, tabletop, video), LARP (live action role playing), a rave, and vendors.[1][4][5][8] The 2010 charity auction benefited the American Red Cross and 2011 Child's Play.[1][4][5]
History
In 2009, the convention was founded by the president of the Japanese club Aaron Auzins, and the anime/gaming clubs adviser Chris Zasada.[5][7] GarasuNoShiCon was organized by members of the Gamers United, Japanese Club, and Owens' Anime Convention clubs.[2][7] The convention was free in 2010 and 2011.[2][7][8] Glass City Con moved from the Owens Community College in 2014 to expand.[6]
