William Hare 'Gobo' Ashley (10 February 1862 – 14 July 1930) was a South African cricketer who played in one Test in 1889, the second Test ever played by his country.[1] He took 7 wickets for 95 runs in the only innings he played in,[2] becoming only the second South African to take a five-wicket haul after Albert Rose-Innes during that inaugural South African Test earlier in the year. Ashley went on to play a further three first-class matches for Western Province in South African domestic cricket in a three year career from 1888 until 1891, taking thirteen wickets in all.[1]
