Gojko Cimirot (born 19 December 1992) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Greek club PAOK and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Club career

Cimirot started his career with FK Leotar, where he played for four seasons, before moving to Bosnian giants FK Sarajevo in 2013.[2]

There he established himself as one of the best players in the league, earning his first international cap during his time at FK Sarajevo.

On 11 August 2015, Greek club PAOK held talks with FK Sarajevo over the transfer of Gojko Cimirot. The 22-year-old was very high on PAOK's shortlist and a deal was likely to be agreed.

On 12 August 2015, PAOK reached an agreement with FK Sarajevo over the transfer of Gojko Cimirot as Sarajevo had accepted a bid in the region of €2 million from PAOK.[3] Cimirot has undergone a medical and put pen to paper on a contract worth €400,000 per year.[4]

On 23 August 2015, the opening day of 2015–2016 season, Cimirot got his left foot injured and subsequently missed next 8 weeks of action.[5]

Upon return from his injury, he made a string of good performances which got him voted as player of the month December at PAOK.[6]

International career

Cimirot was a regular member of Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 team, making 7 appearances.

He made his senior debut on 4 September 2014, in a friendly game against Liechtenstein.[7]
