Gonzalo Sanchez Moreno is a former football player and is the current head coach of the Bangladesh national football team.

Career

Moreno was born in Barcelona in 1972. He played as a full-back. He got a trial at the FC Barcelona B team and successfully got a youth team spot. Eventually he signed for UD Almería.[3] He then rejoined FC Barcelona. He retired a year later due to a knee injury.

Coaching

In 2016, Moreno got a six-month contract as the head coach of the Bangladesh national football team. Former Bangladeshi player and Bangladesh Football Federation president Kazi Salahuddin originally said he wasn't impressed with his coaching experience but he said he showed interest because he joined FC Barcelona academy at the age of eight and knows the prodecure of youth development.[4] Moreno said he can impress because he had playing experiences with stars like Luis Figo and Pep Guardiola and that would be an advantage in his coaching. He also said he has a UEFA A-license and was taught by former Dutch legend Johan Cruyff. Moreno has coached Madagascar's youth teams.[5] He is also the manager of Bangladesh's under-23 team with Satyajit Das Rupu.[6] He achieved a bronze medal for Bangladesh at the 2016 South Asian Games. He was in charge of his first match for Bangladesh against the United Arab Emirates but unfortunately he lost 6-1 in Abu Dhabi. His Bangladeshi team suffered another humiliation after being thrashed by Jordan under Harry Redknapp.[7]
