GoodData is an American software company headquartered in San Francisco, CA. The company is known for its cloud-based business intelligence (BI) and big data analytics platform.[1] As of 2014, GoodData provides its software to 30,000 companies.[2]

History

GoodData was founded in 2007 by Czech entrepreneur Roman Stanek. Stanek had previously founded and served as CEO at NetBeans, which was acquired by Sun Microsystems in 1999, as well as Systinet Corporation, which was acquired by Hewlett Packard in 2006. Stanek began to seek financing for GoodData on September 15th, 2008. Stanek received investment in July of 2008 from Tim O'Reilly, Esther Dyson, and private equity firm Windcrest Partners for a total sum of $2 million.[3] In 2009, the company received seed funding from Andreessen Horowitz, O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, and Windcrest Partners across two rounds totaling $5 million. Funding continued with Series A in 2010, a Venture Round in 2011, Series B in 2012, and Series C in late 2012, bringing its total capital raised to $53.5 million.[4] The company received its most recent round of funding with $22 million in a Series D round led by TOTVS Ventures.[5] As of March 2014, the company employs a team of 291 employees and executives.[6] The company has offices in Prague and Brno in the Czech Republic and San Francisco, CA, Portland, OR and Boston, MA in the United States.

Platform

GoodData is a Platform as a Service business intelligence platform that combines an organization's internal and/or external data (both structured and unstructured) to monetize data.[2] In March 2014, GoodData rebranded their offering as an "Open Analytics Platform", which they described as a "complete data governance and discovery platform-as-a-service".[7]
