The Good News Network is an American online newspaper which publishes positive and uplifting news stories.

History

The website was launched in 1997 by Geri Weis-Corbley as a simple HTML website. News was originally gathered from other sources and manually added to the site.

In 2006 the website was rebuilt using the Joomla content management system which made it possible for the site to be updated on a daily basis and also allowed for submission of original news stories from registered users of the site.

With the increased frequency of posting and the emergence of social networking websites the site grew to over 1 million page views per month.

In 2014 the site was moved to WordPress and underwent a complete redesign.

Contributing Authors

Since allowing for original content the site has featured articles from authors and columnists such as Desmond Tutu, David Ignatius, Jeanne Marie Laskas, David Suzuki and Karen Armstrong.

Press

The site has been featured on The Washington Post [1] and NPR[2] websites. Weis-Corbley has also made several appearances on television and radio promoting the positive effect of positive news reporting.
