Good Luck was a Census-designated place in Prince George's County, Maryland during the 1970 United States Census.[3] The population in 1970 was 10,584.[4] The census area split to create newly delineated CDPs of Goddard & Glenn Dale in 1980.[5] The ZIP code serving the area is 20706.

It takes its name from "Good Luck," a parcel of 780 acres of land on the west side of the Patuxent River patented in colonial Maryland.[6] In 1871, John Glenn and Edmund B. Duvall platted the village (as Glennville) soon after the arrival of the Washington Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad (between the national capital and Bowie, Maryland. In 1899, one of the oldest remaining schoolhouses in Prince George's County, Maryland was built for the farming community, near the Methodist Episcopal Church. The "Good Luck Schoolhouse" or "Glenn Dale Colored School", burned in 1907 and expanded in 1915, but deteriorated and was abandoned in 1935 after construction of two other schools nearby, was converted into a private residence in 1935 and designated a local historic site by the Maryland National Capital Planning Commission.[7]

In 1934, the Glenn Dale Hospital, a tuberculosis sanitarium, was built in the community. It closed in 1981 due to the asbestos used in its construction. Various proposals have been made for the site, some for its development, another for its historic preservation.
