Goodhope Bay

Goodhope Bay is a small bay in the Kotzebue Sound, on the Chukchi Sea-facing coast of the U.S. state of Alaska. Its size is only 16 mi. across.

It is located on the northern coast of the Seward Peninsula, 30 mi. W of Deering; Kotzebue-Kobuk Low. Coordinates: 66°07′18″N 163°41′39″W / 66.12167°N 163.69417°W / 66.12167; -163.69417.

Goodhope Bay was named by Lt. Otto von Kotzebue while exploring the region in August 1816 because here he had "good hope" of making important geographic discoveries.
