Gordon McPhate

Gordon Ferguson McPhate (born 1 June 1950)[1] is the current Dean of Chester.[2]

McPhate was educated at Aberdeen University and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. After a spell as a tutor in Physiology at Clare College, he was ordained in 1979.[3] He later held lectureships at Guy’s Hospital and the University of St Andrews.[4] He was an honorary curate at Sanderstead,[5] then an honorary Minor Canon at Southwark Cathedral[6] and an honorary chaplain at St Andrews,[7] before his elevation[8] to the Deanery.[9]
