Grønningen Lighthouse (Norwegian: Grønningen fyr) is a lighthouse on an islet off Kristiansand in Vest-Agder County, Norway, which marks the eastern point of the approach of Kristiansand. The building is 5 meters above sea level and is built in concrete. The tower is 14 meters high.
History
The lighthouse was first in service on 1 September 1878. The other lighthouse, which marks the western entrance, Oksøy Lighthouse, lies 2.2 km to the west.
The lighthouse station was manned until 1980. In 1994, the entire facility was protected by law as a national monument.[2] The lighthouse is operated today by the foundation Bragdøya kystlag, and is open to the public. In the summer holidays there are hosted accommodation.[3][4]
