Grappa Music

Grappa Musikkforlag AS (established 1983 in Norway) is a Norwegian record label initiated and directed by Helge Westbye.[1] It is one of the oldest and biggest independent record companies in Norway today. The name Grappa is associated with musical breadth and quality. The company represents prominent Norwegian artists, and the catalog consists of over 500 CD albums in all genres of music.[2]

The classic catalog is marketed through Simax Classics (1997-). Folk and world music released on Heilo label (1995-), taken over by Grappa in 1995.[1] Besides representing the ECM catalog in Norway, Grappa is also engaged in several other music companies sych ase Barneselskapet, Blue Mood Records, Curling Legs and Rune Grammofon. Grappa also has a close cooperation with the "Norsk Komponistforening" for the marketing of their Phonograms published on Aurora. Grappa is the Norwegian Music Publishing company that have the most nominations for Spellemannprisen Awards.[2] Their DVD releases have also set Norwegian sales records.[2] Grappa is part of FONO.[3]
