Graveyard Carz is an automotive reality show currently airing on the Velocity Channel. The show documents a select crew (nicknamed "the ghouls") at Mark Worman's collision shop, Welby's Car Care, and the research on and restoration of Chrysler Corporation (Mopar) vehicles, primarily Plymouth and Dodge late 1960s / early 1970's muscle cars. During the first two seasons, the restoration footage is bookended by Worman's musings and commentary, usually at his workers' expense. The crew also provides commentary on the projects, as well as about working with each other. Season 3 began to focus more on the builds and techniques, becoming even more evident during Season 4a, which aired from the late fall of 2014 to early winter 2015. With Season 4b, airing fall 2015 to early winter 2016, a completely new show format debuted, focusing almost entirely on cars, the builds, trivia, etc., while excluding most of the previous character drama. The series is made on location at Worman's collision shop in Springfield, Oregon and shot by the independent film and television production company The Division Productions, LLC (also owned by Worman[2]). Occasionally, owners of the cars being restored visit the shop and tell their story. During Season 4a, Worman found a new, larger building and grounds to move his shop to and had it rehabbed with new equipment to both streamline and expand his restortation business, all of which was showcased beginning with Season 4b.

According to their April 2015 newsletter, Graveyard Carz explains why the change in crew: "Out of respect for everyone involved, we have remained quiet on the subject. The truth of the matter is our number one priority is getting customers cars done on-time, in perfect condition, and making a successful television show. So a change is what inevitably occurred. We thank the previous cast for all they have done but now it’s time to look forward to the future". [4]
The 1971 Phantom 'Cuda
The genesis of the series is a 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda, which was built on February 22, 1971. The pony car was painted HEMI Orange, built with a 440 Six Barrel V8, a HD HEMI 4-speed transmission, and a 3.54 ratio Dana 60 rear axle. It changed hands a few times early in its life. In that time the vehicle received a set of Cragar 5 spoke wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires and a luggage rack from a 1970s Plymouth Barracuda Gran Coupe. The 'Cuda fell off of the radar until around 1978, when it was found in Springfield, OR up on blocks, minus its original 440 engine. Another engine was then installed. On July 5, 1980, on a deserted road in Monroe, Oregon, the driver lost control at 100 miles per hour (160 km/h) and crashed. The pony car sustained damage to most of its body panels and suspension. It was towed to a storage yard, where it sat for several weeks, and then the 'Cuda was moved to a farm in Monroe, OR. During the next 20 years, it was parted out, piece by piece.
A Mopar collector acquired it, and the vehicle sat for an additional eight years, with the collector's intention of someday rebuilding it. Worman discovered it in 2008 and entered into an agreement with the collector to restore the 'Cuda to its original as-built state. Worman wanted to document its restoration using video, thus the series Graveyard Carz was born. The documentation also included researching the pony car's entire history, from Plymouth production through its owners up to its untimely demise in 1980, its parting-out during the next 20 years, and where the wreck is today. The car's timeline during the show's first two seasons was illustrated on a large white board, nicknamed "The Murder Board". Being behind schedule on the extensive bodywork required, during the fourth season Worman calls in a favor, and had the 'Cuda crated, shrink-wrapped, and shipped to Auto Metal Direct's garage in Georgia, so they could complete the body work using AMD's period-correct reproduction sheet-metal parts. The 'Cuda's body restoration was completed and returned to Worman, and the vehicle's mechanical and paint restoration will be finished during season 5 of the series.
