Great Berry

Great Berry is a village controlled by Basildon Borough Council. The village lies south of Laindon and north of Horndon. The area has a small grocers, a hairdressers, an off-licence, a pharmacy, a health centre and a Tesco superstore. Great Berry Primary School lies in the southern part of the village and takes in pupils age 4–11.

History

The Langdon Hills Nature Reserve in Great Berry has ruins of house and shelters from World War II. Many of these were destroyed to make way for the new housing in the 1980s. The village of Great Berry is a relatively new village as it was officially declared a village by Essex County Council in 2015.

Location

Great Berry is located in South Essex. It is in the Borough of Basildon and lies at the south border. It is around 1 mile south of Laindon Railway Station and around 2 miles north of West Horndon Railway Station
