The Greater Brisbane League 2011–12 season is part of the annual summer baseball competition of South East Queensland run by Baseball Queensland. It is contested between 12 different clubs and runs from September 2011 through to April, 2012.

Season structure

The season has the same structure to the previous Greater Brisbane League season with five open age divisions, with first division (A) and second division (B) split into a 'Major League' and 'Pacific League' which has six teams playing in Major League and six in Pacific League.

The leagues will be determined by a round robin competition every Friday and Sunday from September 25, 2011 to October 30, 2011 with the top six teams that meet Major League Criteria qualifying for the Major League and the remaining six, play in the Pacific League. The top two teams from both Major A and Major B at the end of the qualifying rounds will contest the Commissioners Shield.

The Major A premiership is currently held by the Pine Hills Lightning in Major League and Runcorn Indians in the Pacific League.

Preliminary rounds

The 2011-12 season saw a reduction in teams from 13 to 12, with Mudgeeraba Redsox electing to not field teams in the Greater Brisbane League. Narangba Demons, Pine Rivers Rapids, Mount Gravatt Eagles and Southern Stars Baseball Club elected to field a team just in the South-East Queensland Baseball League rather than Major or Pacific League. The preliminary rounds will be used to determine the top six seeded teams for Major League and bottom six for Pacific League for the rest of the season. All teams play each other once over the space of six weeks with teams playing Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Mid-week games were played to cover for abandoned or suspended games or when the Brisbane Bandits were at home. After eleven rounds of play, the only abandoned game, scheduled between Toowoomba Rangers and Surfers Paradise Baseball Club would decide the final position. It was played November 6, with Surfers Paradise winning 11-0 behind Aaron Thompsons complete game no hitter through 7 innings.

On Wednesday 25 March 2012, Surfers Paradise won the premiership with a 6-5 win over Windsor Royals in the deciding third game of the grand final series after the winning run was walked in in the bottom of the 9th inning.
