Greatest Hits Vol. II is the follow-up to Estefan's first hits album (the second compilation which was released only in Europe). The album includes most of all her English hits from 1994's Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me up to the then-recent Gloria! (1998).

The other English singles "It's Too Late", "Cherchez La Femme", "Higher", "Cuba Libre", and "Don't Let This Moment End" were not included on the album, in contrary to the initial announcement that "Don't Let This Moment End" would make it to the album. According to a fan's review of the album on Amazon, in a behind-the-scenes interview discussing the album Estefan had said that since the number of songs on her albums were limited (due to statutory rates) and she decided to let her son Nayib remix "Conga" (hence the song "Y-Tu-Conga"), she had to drop "Moment" from the track listing.

"If We Were Lovers" is the English version of Estefan's hit Spanish single, "Con Los Años Que Me Quedan", released from her first Spanish album Mi Tierra. Due to its UK success, this English version first appeared on this best of album.

The compilation has four new songs, three of which became singles: "You Can't Walk Away from Love" which featured on the 2001 film Original Sin starring Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie; "Out of Nowhere, a heavy dance tune released as a single and "Y-Tu-Conga, a remix of Estefan's popular single "Conga. "I Got No Love" was never released as a single.

Although this compilation almost includes Gloria's singles from her 90's career, the album was a not nearly the chart success in comparison to her 1992 Gloria Estefan Greatest Hits, charting only at #92 on the Billboard Top 200.

2014 Hong Kong Re-release the "Greatest Hits Vol 2" as K2 HDCD 100 kHz 24 bit K2 HDCD Mastering CD. Hong Kong only release 1,000 pressing Limited Numbers Editions. Disc Made In Japan.
