Career
Mills was born in Leicester, Leicestershire.[1] He progressed through the ranks at Derby and was a regular part of the Derby County Reserves pre-season for the 2009/10 season, scoring twice. After playing in a 4–0 win away to Shrewsbury Town Reserves in The Central League Division One Central Section on 27 August 2009, Mills moved to non-league Solihull Moors on a one-month loan deal, scoring four goals in four games.[2] The loan was extended to a second month,[2] but was cut short due to an injury crisis at Derby, and he was named amongst the substitutes in a 0–0 away to Leicester City on 18 October 2009. Mills made his debut for Derby County as an 79th minute sub for Gary Teale in a 2–0 defeat away to Middlesbrough on 21 October 2009.[3] He returned to Solihull for a six-week loan spell on 19 November 2009.[4] This was followed by a move to Macclesfield on a month loan on 29 January 2010[5] though he made only one appearance for The Silkmen, as substitute, in a 2–1 defeat against Bury.[6] After impressing in a pre-season game for AFC Telford United against Hednesford Town (a game which Telford won 2–0) in August 2010, Mills joined The Bucks on a months loan from Derby County later on in the month.[7][8][9] After hitting three goals in his first six games, the loan was extended until January 2011.[10] He returned to Derby for two weeks before rejoining Telford for the remainder of the campaign on 31 January 2011.[11] On 11 May 2011, Derby announced that Mills would not be retained on completion of his contract in June 2011.[12] On 15 May 2011, Mills played a part in Telford success in the Conference North play-off final playing for an hour in the 3–2 victory over Guisley, victory resulted in promotion to the Conference National.[13] On 15 August 2011, Mills rejoined AFC Telford United on a one-year contract.[14] Mills scored on his second debut for Telford and his first Conference National game, a stoppage time consolation goal in a 2–1 defeat against Lincoln City.[15] Mills was a 67th-minute substitute in the game.[15]
On 27 January 2012 Mills was released from AFC Telford.[16]
In March 2013 he joined Boston United from Worcester City.[16]
