Gremln is a secure web-based software platform for businesses in regulated industries that use social media.[3] Founded by Ryan Bell in 2008, GREMLN combines social media marketing program management with compliance and reporting tools that make it easy for companies, like financial institutions and banks, to master the social media landscape and build business using social networks. In 2015, the American Bankers Association endorsed GREMLN as the official provider to U.S. Banks for social media digital marketing and compliance tools.[5]

GREMLN allows businesses to manage LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter profiles, monitor social media team activities, and filter sensitive keywords to help ensure a professional, compliant social media presence.[6]

Based in St. Louis, GREMLN social media operates on a subscription model and has over 100,000 users nationwide. GREMLN is privately held and its investors include Cultivation Capital and SixThirty, a FinTech accelerator.[7]

History

Founder Ryan Bell released the company’s first social media management software in 2008, a Twitter scheduling and management client called Twaitter.[3] The success of Twaitter led Bell to design Gremln as a multiple network management tool. In April 2014, Gremln was chosen to participate in one of the nations leading business accelerators for financial services technology, St. Louis-based SixThirty.[7]

[8] In November 2014], Gremln secured additional investment from St. Louis-based Cultivation Capital.[9] Other investors include Capital Innovators, Missouri Technology Corporation, a public-private partnership, iSelect Funds and other private investors.[9]

In May 2014, Gremln was chosen to present at Finovate, a national financial technology conference.[10] In September 2014, Gremln was invited for a second appearance at Finovate Fall 2014, where they were accompanied on stage by leadership from Wells Fargo to present the Gremln social media platform.[11]

In January 2014, the New York Bankers Association endorsed Gremln as the recommended social media marketing, management and compliance platform for all member financial institutions.[12] Gremln was also the endorsed and preferred solution of the Missouri Bankers Association.[13]

In September 2015, Chris Moloney, former Chief Marketing Officer at Wells Fargo Advisors, joined Gremln as CEO and appointed a member of the Board of Directors. Founder Ryan Bell remained on as chairman and Chief Product Officer.[14] Moloney was senior vice president and CMO at St. Louis-based Wells Fargo Advisors and previously held Chief Marketing Officer positions at Experian and Scottrade.[14] One month after Moloney joined the team, Gremln was endorsed by the American Bankers Association (ABA) – through its subsidiary the Corporation for American Banking, as the official platform for social media marketing, monitoring, and compliance for all U.S. member banks.[15]

Gremln offers organizational tools to manage social media marketing campaigns for individuals and groups. Gremln provides integration for managing multiple profiles and posting to Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Gremln’s Social Guardian system is designed for regulated users, such as financial services employees and companies, to manage a safe, secure and compliant social media presence.[15] Gremln uses the URL shortener 'brev.is' to shorten URLs submitted to its service.[16]
