Grigor Hovhannissian (Armenian: Գրիգոր Յուրիի Հովհաննիսյան, born January 26, 1971) is an Armenian diplomat. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia (2014).[1]

Education

Career

In 1994–1996 Grigor Hovhannissian was Coordinator of the "Shelter" program of UN High Commissioner for Refugees at Yerevan Office, 1996–1998 he was the assistant to the Special Coordinator, program and public information (Nairobi, Goma eastern Zaire)of UN Special Mission to the African Great Lakes region: Uganza, Zaire, Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, 1998–2000 UN Secretariat Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Head of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Brazzaville (Republic of the Congo) Offices, 2001–2003 Team Leader and emergency Planner at Office of the UN Special Coordinator (UNESCO) for the Middle East Peace Process in Jerusalem, 2002–2003 United Nations Field Coordinator in Palestinian territories, West Bank and the Gaza Strip (Ramallah and Gaza City), 2004 Senior Advisor to the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General at United Nations Assistance Mission to Iraq (Jordan), 2005–2008 he has been a visiting Lecturer at Yerervan State University in Middle East Politics at Faculty of Oriental Studies, in August–October of 2006 worked as Field Coordinator at UN Emergency Mission to Lebanon, Saida region, 2006–2009 Executive Director of the "Shushi Revival Fund" in Armenia, 2009–2013 Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles (West Coast US), since 2013 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotenciary of the Republic of Armenia to the United Mexican States, Mexico City [2]

On January 12, Grigor Hovhannissian was appointed as an Armenian ambassador to the United States on January 12, 2016 by the decree of the Armenian President[3] [4]
