Große Aa (Aabach) is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The Great Aa rises in East Westphalia 7 km north of the border to Hessen between Bad Wunnenberg the north-northwest and Marsberg in the east on the border between Briloner plateau to the west and the north Sintfeld. Your source is about 4 km northeast of Brilon Madfeld district and 300 m (depending on distance) north from about 490 meters above sea level. NHN high Liebfrauenberg (East foothills of 502.6 m high skull) to approximately 470 m altitude. It is located on the northern border of the Diemelsee nature park. The "Sister Bach" the Great Aa, the Kleine Aa, rises about 1.5 km north-east of its source.
The Great Aa flows entirely in the "nature reserve Aabachtal" through the wooded landscape in the transition region of Upper Marsberger forest in the east and the west Madfelder forest. Accompanied by forest and hiking trails runs the creek right along the border of the Diemelsee nature park. Initially the Great Aa flows a short distance to the southwest and the rest to the northwest.
Finally, the Great Aa about 3.35 km (linear) opens northeast of Madfeld between the wooded heights of Madfelder Forest at about 385 meters above sea level in the coming of the southwest Aabach.
