Grofers is an on-demand delivery service that connects consumers with local stores.[1]

Grofers has raised $166.5 Million till date (November 2015) after 3 rounds of funding by Softbank, Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global.

History

Grofers was founded on 27 December 2013 by Saurabh Kumar and Albinder Dhindsa.

At the time of launch, the company worked on a b2b model. In November 2014, the company switched to the hyperlocal b2c model with offerings to the end customer.[2] In October 2015, Grofers temporarily halted operations in certain parts of NCR due to operational issues. On 3 January 2016, Grofers formally announced scaling back operations in 9 cities.[3]

Acquisitions

1. My Green Box: In April 2015, Delhi NCR based grocery delivery mobile platform My Green Box was acquired for an undisclosed amount.
2. Townrush: In October 2015, a B2B delivery service provider Townrush was acquired.
3. SpoonJoy: In October 2015, Bengaluru-based food-tech startup SpoonJoy was acquired.

Grofers has raised $166.5 Million after 3 rounds of funding:

Seed Funding: $0.5 Million from Deepinder Goyal, Founder of Zomato, and Sequoia Capital in September 2014

1. Series A: $10 Million was closed in February 2015 by Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global [4][5]

2. Series B: $36 Million was announced in April 2015 by Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global [6]

3. Series C: $120 Million was announced in November 2015 by Softbank, Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global

Mobile application
