Gu Bin (Chinese: 顾斌; born 10 November 1991 in Shanghai) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Shanghai Shenxin in the China League One.

Club career

In 2009, Gu Bin started his professional footballer career with Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League.[1] In July 2011, Gu was loaned to A Lyga side FK Sūduva until 31 December. [2]On 14 July 2011, Gu made his debut for FK Sūduva in the last group match of 2011–12 UEFA Europa League against IF Elfsborg.[3]

In 2013,Gu moved to China League One side Chongqing F.C. on a one-year loan deal.[4]

Life Experience

Gu Bin was born on November 10, 1991 in a poor family in Shanghai. When he was 2 years old, his mother left and never returned. His father died when he was 14, and ever since then he was taken care of by his uncle and aunt. He received his preliminary education in the Fourth Preliminary School of Pingliang Road, a school famous for national footballers, but his family was too poor to afford a pair of football boots, let alone the costs of professional training after the preliminary school. His uncle tried to seek help from Genbao Football Base, but before he could introduce Gu Bin, the academy refused him by claiming that all the youths of that age in Shanghai had already been selected.

Fortunately, in 2008, Shanghai Shenhua FC made an exception of Gu Bin to offer him a professional contract. Soon his talent was appreciated by the management. In 2009, he was selected by Chinese U19 national team, and in 2010 he was sent to Atletico de Madrid to train with the reserve team and study Spanish football. In 2011, he was loaned to Suduva FK in Lithuania for one season and played in the starting eleven against IF Elfsborg from Sweden in UEFA Europa League.

Su Maozhen, the famous Chinese coach, viewed Gu Bin as a very talented and promising young player. Gu is fast and agile in dribbling. With his left-footed gift, he can always break through opponent's defense as a left forward.

In Shanghai Shenhua, Gu's skills and hard-work are also appreciated by the coach. His teammates nicknamed him as "Junior Hidetoshi Nakata".
