Guam was represented in the Olympic Games for the first time and also in the Olympic Winter Games (as of 2014, only time) at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games.[1] A single biathlete competed: Judd Bankert, a 39-year-old Michigan-born outdoors enthusiast who had moved to Guam in 1981.[1] He took a year off work to qualify for the biathlon, and his entry was accepted three days before the Opening Ceremony.[1]
