Gunnhildur Hauksdottir

Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir is an Icelandic visual artist, who was born in Reykjavík 1972. She received her MFA from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam in 2003 and is an active member of the Dieter Roth Academy. She has lived and worked in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Berlin, Germany until 2008 but is currently residing in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Work related to art

She serves on the alternate board of the Living Art Museum in Reykjavík and was head of the board and director until Mars this year. She has served on the artistic board of Sequences Art Festival and has been and is involved in numerous publications, lectures and research on Artist initiatives and their impact on culture. She holds a visiting artists ́ position at the Iceland Academy of the Arts in Reykjavik.

Artistic work

Gunnhildur works in sculpture, audio, video and performance. Among her most recent projects are Cencus in Skaftfell, Center for Visual Art (IS 2014), Assembly of the Holy (IS 2010-2014 with artist Bryndís Hrönn Ragnarsdóttir) Der Abastand in 21er Haus (AU 2014), Stars in Context Gallery (NI 2011) My Gift, Your Excellency in ASI Art Museum (IS 2011), Audition in Ace Art Inc (CA 2008) in collaboration with writer Kristin Omarsdottir and Cultus Bestiae Reykjavik Art Museum (IS 2008). Her most recent work in collective exhibitions are Mirrorriff DRA-Hjalteyri (IS 2010), Howl Donau festival (AU 2010) and Rockabilly Gal w. Kling & Bang (DK 2009) to name a few.
