Gustavo Méndez (born November 24, 1967) is a football (soccer) referee from Uruguay, best known for supervising two matches at the Copa América 2004 in Peru. He also led four games during the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification in South America. Has been expulsed of his activity by the AUF, after the controversial match of the last round of the Uruguayan special 2005, when 7 minutes into injury time, he conceded a doubtful penalty in favor of nacional against rocha, a tie-break goal that resulted in Defensor Sporting not winning the title, and refusing to play the final play-off.
