HD 43197 is a 9th magnitude G-type main sequence or subgiant star located approximately 180 light years away in the constellation Canis Major. This star is larger, cooler, fainter, and less massive than our Sun. Also its metal content is five halves as much as the Sun. In 2009, a gas giant planet was found in orbit around the star.[2]
