Hadji Bey
Hadji Bey is a Turkish delight confectionery made in County Kildare, Ireland.[1][2]
History
The original product was created by Harutun Batmazian, an Armenian trader, who exhibited at the 1902 Great Cork International Exhibition. He set up in Cork City where the business thrived.
His shop facade on McCurtin Street read: Hadji Bey et Cie which gave the premises an exotic, international, quasi-French atmosphere.[3]
The business today
In the 1970s the business was sold and the product is now made by LC Confectionery in Newbridge, while keeping a premises at the English Market in Cork.
