Hamren (IPA: ˈhæmrən) is a town and headquarter of West Karbi Anglong district in the Indian state of Assam. The town is situated on a hill.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[1] Hamren had a population of 8694. Males constitute 4406 (50.5%) of the population and females 4288 (49.5%). Hamren has an average literacy rate of 86%, higher than the national average of 74%: male literacy is 90%, and female literacy is 82%.

Tourism attractions

The beauty of the green hills around the town is very fascinating. A sweet breeze blows in the town throughout the whole year. The river Kapili passes by it. Towards its southern border there are the hills of Meghalaya and the lake of Borapani. Some important places to visit in Hamren are Boithalngso, Amtreng, Dongka, Khanduli, Tika hills etc.
