Hannes Kirchler (born 22 December 1978 in Merano) is an Italian discus thrower.
Biography
He is also a seven-time national champion for the discus throw, and a member of CS Carabinieri, an Italian military and police sporting club. In 2007, Kirchler achieved his personal best throw of 65.17 metres at the Italian national championships in Bolzano.
Kirchler competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and qualified for the men's discus throw. He threw the discus into the field at 56.44 metres, just nearly nine metres short of his personal best. Kirchler finished sixteenth in the second group, and thirty-third overall in the qualifying round of the event; therefore, he did not reach the final.[1]
