The (A. N.) Hansen Mansion (Danish: A. N. Hansens Palæ) is a Neoclassical town house in the Frederiksstaden neighbourhood of central Copenhagen, Denmark. Completed in 1835 to designs by Jørgen Hansen Koch, it now houses a fashion innovation centre.
History
The house was built in 1835 to designs by Royal Master Builder Jørgen Hansen Koch for A. N. Hansen.
After A.N. Hansen's death in 1873, his eldest son, Alfred Hansen, owned the house until 1893. Later the building served as head office for the insurance company Fjerde Søforsikring.
Architecture
The mansion consists of two floors and a celler. The main facade on Fredericiagade is five bays long while nine bays face Bredgade. It is designed in a strict Late Neoclassical style which is probably inspired by Karl Friedrich Schinkel's buildings in Berlin.[1]
The building was listed in Class B in 1939.[2]
KICK
The building now houses KICK, an innovation centre for collaboration between the European and Chinese fashion industry. It was opened in May 2013 as a collaboration between Kopenhagen Fur and Danish Fashion and Textile.[3][4]
