Harinagar, Bihar
Harinagar is a small village in Kusheswar Asthan West Block in Darbhanga district in Bihar, India.[1][2] Harinagar is a Panchayat in itself, constituted of Harinagar, Aso, Majhiyam, Chatar, Darvepur, Mahrajpur, Maibi- Kachhua, Dharisham etc. Harinagar panchayat is the boarder of Darbhanga district and Samastipur District. It is why its sub post office is in Singhia a Village in Smastipur District.
History
Harinagar is a village which is reside on the road site in the past. That palace is this time known by name Madhopur Deeh near Majhiam Chock. Approximately 150 years ago all the people of Harinagar resided out there. In that days mainly Brahmin and Kumahar are lived out there. But in the past time houses of the villagers are not made of concrete and very easy to break that by the thieves. It’s impossible for the villager to fight with those thieves without any instruments. So villagers decide to leave the place and go in the farming field which is very far from the roads. In present days Madhopur Deeh is contains many trees of Mango, Blackberry, stone apple etc.
Language
Maithili is spoken all over the village and no other language is being practiced. The officers, who are out side of the Maithili speaking territory, use Hindi as connecting language. Maithili is recognized as an official language in India in 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution.

Population
The population of the village is composed of various varna people. All four varna (i.e. Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra) are represented in the village, out of which Brahmans are in majority. According to census, 2011, the total population of the village is 6895.

The village is divided into Lakshmipur (popularly - Puwari Tola), Jagir Tola, Rajua Tola, Dharisham Tola, Mallah tola, Chamartoli or Musahari (the place for lower caste people outside of the village), Kursham, etc. Dharisham also contains Paasi people.
Administration
Harinagar comes undar Samistipur parliamentary constituency. While it comes under Kusheswar Asthan West MLA Constituency. Both Constituencies are kept reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people. It is noticeable that both the Constituencies are kept reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people.
Public amenities
The village is equipped with a "Higher Secondary Kasturaba Gandhi Girls School" with hostel facility for the girls from lower caste backgrounds. A "Government High School" with higher secondary education has been proposed, and the buildings are under construction; it is expected that the school is scheduled to open in 2017. There are three primary schools up to 5th class. Besides this, the village have four Anganbaadi centers, and four Asha Kiran runs with the collaboration of UNICEF. A railway station is also proposed in Harinagar and it is under construction to the west of village. The station code is [HIR.]
The village also enjoys electricity supply for a long time.
Transport
Harinagar is connected by Road as well as by Railway. But the rail is not active now it will be in near future.Any one can reach village by self vehicle like Bike, Car, etc. or by Buses, Autos etc. There are two popular places near the village one is Ber Chock and another is Supoal Bazar. From These two place any one can get the vehicle to reach to village. But these facilities are only available upto 6:00 P.M of local time.
Festivals
The villagers celebrate almost all Hindu festivals like Holi, Diwali or Deepawali , Kali Puja(worship), Chhath Puja, Maha Shivratri, Basant Panchami, etc. Among all the festivals, Judi-Sheetal is the most famous one in Harinagar. Judi-Sheetal has been celebrated on 14 / 15 April each year.
Temples
Harinagar contains two Hanumaan Temples, and a Kali temple, a Radha Krishna Campus and three Deehbaar Palace. It is also noticeable that the whole population of Harinagar is of Hinduism belief. No people with other religious beliefs (except Hindu religious belief) reside there.And Most of them are Bhaman by cast.
Economy of village
The economy of village is largely dependent on agriculture and pastoral work as the villagers do not have any other option to work with industry and the kind. The villagers go out of village in quest of job in big cities there they work in industries and drives auto-riksas. The educated people work as Teacher, Doctor, Supervisor, Team-leader, engineer, etc.
Challenges before the villagers
The villagers are facing many challenges to fulfill the needs of their family and kins.
- Employment problems are the giant one before the villagers.
- Struggling for quality education is the most important obstacle to hinder the development of the village. It is a big misfortune of the village that in spite of having so much educational institutions, the villagers still have to struggle for quality education. The teachers in these schools are less qualified as their degrees say. If one or two of them are qualified, they have been given extra educational duties to attain. In spite of all these difficulties, a significant change has occurred in education system of the village. Majority of the students are going for higher education, showing victory in several fields of study.
- Position of women in the village is very deteriorating as Pardah systems are still prevalent and they are not allowed to get higher education. In the last few years a significant check has been seen but the condition of women are still to go long.
