Haroon Tariq
Muhammad Haroon Tariq (born Kohat, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Pakistan) is a Pakistani student, notable for making six world records by getting a total of 47 A's.[1][2] He passed his A levels from Froebel’s International School Islamabad in Pakistan.[1]
Early life
Muhammad was born in Kohat, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He lived most of his life in Karachi, Peshawar and Islamabad. He is the second youngest child of his family and his father was an army officer.[3] He studied at Army Public School and Froebel’s International Islamabad during his GCE's.[3]
Media attention
Haroon’s A Level result was taken up by the international media.. He was interviewed by or quoted in a number of newspapers and TV channels including BBC, run News, Saudi Gazette, The Asian Today, News Tribe, Express News, Dunya News, PTV, ARY News and GEO TV among others.[1][3][4][5][6][7][8] He was called by BBC World News as “Pakistan’s Brainiest Student”. He was given a number of awards, including the National Book Ambassador Pakistan which is one of the highest honours in Pakistan. Haroon was congratulated personally by the President of Pakistan. President Mamnoon Hussain invited him as a guest to rendezvous with him.[9] In addition, many TV channels including BBC in Britain and ARY, Samaa, Express News and PTV amongst many others in Pakistan invited him as a guest to various shows.[1][4][7][8]
Haroon Tariq soon joined Pakistan's biggest youth organisation; National Youth Assembly, where he serves as a youth ambassador and a federal speaker, using his position to highlight the issues of young people to the masses where they are often neglected.[10] The National Youth Assembly (NYA) is legally formed National entity under license number 690 of the ordinance 1984 issued by the Government of Pakistan as Model Parliament, youth think tank and social welfare institution. We are leading Youth Parliament of the country and our focus is to uplift our member’s capabilities through special programs, sessions, particularly video literature and other tools of modern technology. Many projects of the organisation are aimed to facilitate teachers, to improve education in less privileged areas, to help in the eradication of the country's corruption, and to carry out other humanitarian efforts. It arranges seminars in Pakistan, organises conferences, and promotes education through various means including e- learning. It is in the process of accumulating funding and building a network of free schools for those who need them across the country. Students can ask academic questions and receive professional assistance. Other projects of the organisation are aimed to train teachers, to improve education in less privileged areas, to improve the country's curriculum and education system, among other humanitarian efforts.[11]
Personal life
Haroon Tariq claims that he was an ordinary student, whose academic performance oscillated as a child. He has claimed that he wishes to achieve greatness and elevate his homeland.[5] He received 30 A's in his O Level, along with a distinction award in combined science.[1] He received 28 A grades in IGCSEs and 29 A grades in his A Levels.[1] He is a football fan, watches English Premier League and the Spanish Primera and is a supporter of Arsenal, Manchester City, Leicester City, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid. He plays as a winger for his local team.[3]
The A Level subjects he took include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Math, Economics and Business, Sociology, Urdu Literature, Urdu Language, General Studies, Government and Politics, Computer Studies, ICT, Psychology, English Literature, Marine Sciences, English language, Thinking Skills, Geography, Economics, General Paper, Business Studies, Applied Geography, Global Development, Environmental Management, Divinity, Islamic Studies, Accounting, World History and Classical Studies.[3][4][5][6][8]
