Harry Allen (politician)

Harry Allen is a former city councillor and mayor of Gloucester, Ontario, Canada.[1]

He served as a Gloucester councillor from 1978 to 1985 and then served as mayor from 1985 to 1991. Gloucester voters were angry after Allen introduced a large tax increase in 1989 to help bring municipal finances under control; he was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1991 by Claudette Cain, who subsequently introduced a tax freeze.[1]

The St. Joseph Boulevard bridge over Green's Creek was renamed the Harry Allen Bridge in 2012.[1]
