Samuel H. "Harry" Hess was the second head college football coach for Fairmount College (now Wichita State University) located in Wichita, Kansas and he held that position for three seasons, from 1899 until 1901. His overall coaching record at Fairmount College was 10 wins, 10 losses, and 2 ties. He was a pharmacist in Wichita who had played football for the Kansas Jayhawks.[2]
