Harvest Time Christian Academy is a coeducational, private school located in Tyler, Texas. Founded in 2010 as a Christian ministry of the Harvest Time Church of Tyler, the school accepts students from Pre-K to 12th grade.
Academics
HTCA is one thousands of schools worldwide that use the Accelerated Christian Education program.,[1] a Christian curriculum that emphasizes moral character building and individual mastery learning. Instead of the conventional classroom setting having only students of one grade and one subject at a time, the individually partitioned students' desks in grades 1–12 are arranged facing the wall around the perimeter of a Learning Center. Textbooks are divided into illustrated workbooks through which the students work individually. One or more academic supervisors assist each student as necessary when a question is asked or when help is needed. Students progress through their subjects at a rate overseen by their supervisors, advancing only after achieving a minimum 80% on each unit test. Through student-initiated, and carefully overseen daily goal setting, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning.[2] Each year, all students take the Stanford Achievement Test Series in order to assess academic achievement.
Extra-curricular activities
In addition to their regular course of study, students participate in many activities throughout the year including field trips, art classes, music lessons, chapel services, choral performances, and community service projects. A week-long Regional Student Convention highlights the year for many students when they travel to compete with other schools in academic, athletic, music, art, and platform events.
School term
HTCA follows the school term and holidays set by the local Tyler Independent School District.
