Hashmi (Arabic: هَاشَمِي, Urdu: ہاشمی) is a surname, referring descent from the Banu Hashim clan of Quraish. The word is taken from the name of Hashim ibn 'Abd Manaf, great-grandfather of Islamic prophet, Muhammad. It can also be transliterated as (Al) Hashemi and (Al) Hashimi Hashemites , Hashemites (disambiguation).
