The Hashmi is a tribe descended from the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraish,Hashmies are found in Hejaz (in present-day Saudi Arabia), Pakistan, Syria,Kingdom of Morocco, Iraq,India, Jordan .In {Punjab pakistan} They are concentrated in the Jhang and Chiniot districts of Punjab.[2]

The Hashmi clan reportedly originated in Saudia 600 years ago. In addition to Jhang and Chiniot, Hashmis also hold lands in Gujrat, Pakistan Gujranwala and also live in Azad kashmir, Islamabad and Sargodha districts.[3]
