Soon after joining the Central Junior Television Workshop, Monaghan made her television debut as 'Mo' in Bernard's Watch,[2] in the episode 'The Right Time'. She is best known for her role as 'Mina' in the BBC's adaptation of Tim Pears' novel In A Land Of Plenty,[3] alongside Robert Pugh and Helen McCrory. In 2001, she played 'Sarah' in Miramax Films' Gypsy Woman (film).[4]

Theatre

Monaghan became a member of the National Youth Theatre in 2005, and performed in 'S'Warm'[5] and 'Slick' in London and Sheffield, respectively. She played 'Misty' in the development of Tyrone Huggins' play 'The Honey Man' in collaboration with New Perspectives Theatre Company, performing in both Nottingham and Stockholm. She was a member of Fluellen Theatre Company whilst living in Swansea, for whom she played the roles of 'Faith' in Kindertransport (play),[6] 'Nancy/Dolly' in Silas Marner[7] and 'Belle' in their 2012 reprise of A Christmas Carol.[8] As a writer, her radio play 'Little Man' was selected to be professionally performed as a rehearsed reading by Fluellen Theatre Company as part of the Dylan Thomas Centre's 'Rough Diamonds' project.[9]

Music

Monaghan plays the melodeon, guitar, flute[10] and piano. She played the melodeon professionally in Fluellen Theatre Company's adaptation of 'Silas Marner' after playing for just ten days.
