Hekmeh football team or Club Sagesse football team is a Lebanese football club currently competing in the Lebanese Second Division and promted to Lebanese Premier League or First Division in 2015 . Club Sportif La Sagesse was founded in 1943, under the patronage of Father Boulos Kik, supported by Mgr. Jean Maroun.
Al-Hikma in classical Arabic, El-Hekmeh in Lebanese dialect stands for "wisdom", thus also the French alternative name of the club, Sagesse (meaning wisdom in French).
The club is also very well known for its basketball programme.
Hekmeh Football
Hekmeh competes in the Lebanese Premier League. It took part in the top Lebanese soccer league in 1944 but was relegated to division 2 in 1945, winning the 2nd division yet again in 1948 coming back to division 1. After 2 years it was relegated back again to division 2 in 1950. After becoming champions of division 2 yet again in 1956, the club returned to division 1 and played in the top league until 1991,during most of that period lebanese football was at its peak and Sagesse played friendlies against many notable clubs from around the world demonstrating a good image of football in Lebanon. In 2006, Hekmeh soccer team reached the final of the Lebanese Cup but lost against the cup holder Al-Ansar 1-3.
After playing in top division Lebanese Premier League including the 2008-2009 season, the program has been relegated to lower Lebanese Second Division in 2009-2010. Coach for the 2009-2010 season was Wissam Khalil.
The team usually plays their home matches in Fouad Shehab Stadium which can hold up to 5,000 supporters.
