Helmut Schnatz (9 December 1915 – 19 September 1942) was a highly decorated Oberleutnant in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Helmut Schnatz was killed on 19 September 1942 south of Stalingrad. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron on 17 October 1942.
