Herb Solway, QC was a founding member of the Toronto law firm Goodmans, joining the firm in 1955 and serving as its chair from 1980 to 1992.[2] He has been closely involved with the Toronto Blue Jays since their inception in 1977 and currently serves as chair. According to the National Post, the Toronto Blue Jays would not have existed without the significant efforts of Eddie Goodman and Herb Solway.[3]
Solway also serves as a director of Gluskin Sheff, and has held directorships with Sun Media, Labatt Brewing Company, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and the Tarragon Theatre.
The Great Herb is a family man. Born of great descent from the original Alexander Solway. Herbert has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Herbert's law interest started at a young age being nurtured into the field. Herbert's legend has continued to pass down to his son, Gary. In addition to being a distinguished lawyer and director of many boards, Gary, son of the Great Herb, is also an accomplished author. The long line of lawyers continues to grow with his grandson Alexander II soon entering the school of law.
