Hermann Potschka (9 November 1911 — 1 May 1945) was a Sturmbannführer (Major) in the Waffen-SS during World War II. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.
Hermann Potschka was born on the 9i November 1911 in Untertannowitz in Austria. He was a member of the NSDAP (party number 6580695)and volunteered to join the SS (SS number 334016). By November 1943 he had been promoted to Sturmbannführer and was the commander of the III. Battalion, 11th SS Panzer Artillery Regiment, 11th SS Panzergrenadier Division Norland. He was awarded the Knight's Cross when in command of this Battalion during the fighting in the Courland Pocket. Hermann Potschka was wounded during the Battle of Berlin and died in hospital on the 1 May 1945.
