Herrerism
Herrerism is a political faction of the Partido Nacional in Uruguay.
History, and prominent members
It is named after the leader and founder of the faction, Dr. Luis Alberto de Herrera (1873–1959).
Herrera's grandson, Luis Alberto Lacalle (1941-), President of Uruguay 1990-1995, has long exercised a leading rôle in the grouping.
Herrera's great-grandson Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou [1] has also been elected a Senator under the sponsorship of the grouping.
Distinction
The founder of the grouping, Luis Alberto de Herrera is widely regarded as a distinguished figure in Uruguayan history. The ideology of the Herrerism is about economic liberalism and liberal conservatism
