Herzing University is a non-profit, career-focused institution of higher education that awards diplomas/certificates, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees and master's degrees in a variety of disciplines.

History

Herzing University was founded by Henry and Suzanne Herzing in 1965, as a computer programming school, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1970, it became Herzing Institute and the organization started to grow through the acquisition of other schools. The name of the school was changed to Herzing College in 1996, and the institution has grown to include campuses in eight U.S. states, plus an online division. In 2009, with the addition of graduate programs, it was renamed Herzing University for all schools in the United States. In 2015, Herzing University became a non-profit institution.

The Herzing system headquarters are located in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

Academics

While expanding its campuses, Herzing also diversified its educational programs to include the fields of business, technology, health care, nursing, design, and public safety. Herzing University campuses award bachelor of science degrees and associate of science degrees. Master's degrees are offered through Herzing University Online. Not all campuses offer all of the programs. An example of this would be the Phlebotomy certification course. This course is only offered in the Brookfield campus.

Accreditation

Herzing University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and is a member of the North Central Association (NCA).[1][2]

Campuses

Herzing University now has eleven campuses in the U.S. Herzing University campuses are located in Akron, Ohio (established in 1970, formerly known as the Akron Institute of Herzing University); Atlanta, Georgia (founded in 1949 as Massey Junior College, it became part of Herzing in 1979); Birmingham, Alabama (founded as Electronic Computer Programming Institute in 1965, it was acquired by Herzing in 1968); Brookfield, Wisconsin (2010); Kenosha, Wisconsin (2009); Madison, Wisconsin (founded in 1948 as Wisconsin School of Electronics, the school merged with Herzing Institute in 1970); Minneapolis, Minnesota (created by the incorporation of two colleges, Minneapolis Drafting School, established in 1961, it became part of Herzing University in 2000, and Lakeland Medical-Dental Academy, established in 1958, it became part of Herzing in 2002); New Orleans, Louisiana (1996); Omaha, Nebraska (1991, known as the Omaha School of Massage and Healthcare of Herzing University); Orlando, Florida (1995); and Toledo, Ohio (2009).
