Plot

A young ranch girl is sent to Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio (at that time regarded as the most beautiful high school in the United States [it was featured in and on the cover of an issue of Life" magazine in 1938]). In the beginning she has personality problems with some of the other girls at the school, and she is not inducted into the Lassos, a group of girls who performed with their lariats at football games and other occasions dressed in a sort of ersatz cowgirl outfit. Being in the Lassos was regarded as highly desirable, and Jane's character was deeply hurt by her rejection. She becomes involved with a boy, and they in turn become involved in solving and/or preventing a crime. At the end the Lassos reconsider, and she becomes a member of the group
