Highland Park, Ottawa

Highland Park[1] is a sub-neighbourhood of Westboro, in the Kitchissippi Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located between Carling Avenue and Richmond Road, Churchill Avenue and Denbury Ave.[2] It is a prominently upper-class area that contains some large luxury homes closer to Richmond Road and a large number of middle-class low-rise apartment buildings closer to Carling Avenue. The population of the neighbourhood according to the Canada 2011 Census was 4,070.[3]

Nepean High School is a prominent part of the community as is the Highland Park itself which has a tennis court, baseball diamond and field which can be used for football or soccer. Dovercourt Recreation Center features meeting halls and a swimming pool.

The Highland Park area is part of the Ottawa Centre riding federally, which has voted for the New Democratic Party since 2004. Paul Dewar is the current MP for Ottawa Centre. The last federal Liberal to hold the riding was Mac Harb in 2003. The last federal Progressive Conservative to hold the riding was Robert de Cotret in 1979.

Highland Park is also part of the Ottawa Centre riding provincially. Yasir Naqvi of the Ontario Liberal Party has been the MPP for this riding since 2007.
