Himanshu Roy is the Additional Director General of Police of Maharashtra (Planning and Co-ordination). He was ATS Maharashtra Chief. He is an IPS officer of Maharashtra Cadre of 1988 batch and alumni of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai who hail form Rajput-origin.[1][2][3][4][5]

During 2013 Indian Premier League spot-fixing and betting case, he was responsible for arrest of Vindu Dara Singh was for alleged links to bookies in this spot fixing.[6][7] He was later released on bail on 3 June 2013 by a Mumbai Court.[8]

Roy who is of 1988 IPS officer's batch has solved several sensational cases including the firing on Dawood's brother Iqbal Kaskar's driver Arif Bael, Journalist J Dey murder case, the double murder case involving Vijay Palande, Laila Khan murder case and the recent murder of law graduate Pallavi Purkhayasta.[9]
