Hindemburg Melão, Jr.
Hindemburg Melão, Jr. is a Brazilian epistemologist, theologian, and retired chess player.[1]
Hindemburg is known as a player of correspondence chess (with a rating of 2328[2]), and of blindfold chess, where he holds the record for “longest announced mate in simultaneous blindfold chess”, with an announced checkmate in 12 moves in a simultaneous against 9 boards, it was recorded in the Guinness Book.[3] He has also gathered a collection of blindfold chess games from many players from different epochs.[4]
He also had activity as a chess analyst and theoretician, having twice received the distinction of having theoretical innovations considered among the best by the jury of Šahovski Informator.[5][6][7][8][9] Hindemburg is interested in the subject of human intelligence, and is the founder of Sigma Society, Brazil's most selective high IQ society.[10][11]
In his book IMC na Balança, Hindemburg proposed a correction in the formula used for body mass index:[12]
where m is the mass and h the height of a person, in the International System of Units.
