Hollaphonic are an electronic music duo based in Dubai, UAE, comprising Greg Stainer and Olly Wood both originally from the UK. They are officially the first ever dance music duo to be signed to a major record label (Universal Music Group) in the Middle East[1] As of February 2015 the group has commercially released five singles:

  1. “I Don't Want It To End” ft Shaduno went straight to number 1 on iTunes.
  2. “Found You” featuring Dia Hassan which peaked at number 2 on iTunes and is play listed across the Middle East on commercial radio
  3. “Fabric” which also featured as official after-movie for Creamfields Abu Dhabi,
  4. "Runaway" featuring Grammy nominated singer songwriter Aaron Camper, and
  5. "Dangerous" featuring The Voice UK finalist Vince Kidd which premiered on BBC Radio 1 "Dance Anthems" and was play listed as Sarah-Jane Crawford's "Smash Of The Week" on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Hollaphonic tracks and remixes have been played globally on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, Capital FM, Kiss FM, XFM and throughout Emirates Airline, as well as gaining support from DJs such as Danny Howard, Gareth Emery, MistaJam, Thomas Gold, Swanky Tunes and Tommy Trash.

In 2015 their unreleased and unsigned track "Surrounded By Bass" gained a Top 20 position on the much sought after Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) BUZZCHART with DMC Magazine backing them for a huge 2016. [2] It also revived great support from BBC Radio 1 with MistaJam and Capital FM by Coco Cole.

Biography

Their 1st single “I Don’t Want It To End” was released in Feb 2013 was ‘A’ listed on all national Radio stations in the UAE and went straight to No.1 on iTunes[3][4]

Both Olly Wood and Greg Stainer have an extensive history of their own. Stainers achievements to date include two Gold Discs, a discography of over fifty productions and remixes on record labels such as Hed Kandi,[5] CR2, Toolroom Records, Stealth, Armada Music, Pacha Recordings and Universal as well as a full-length solo Album "6mil 2headphones". Wood was recently selected by Gulf Business as one of “The top 30 under 30 businessmen in the Middle East”[6] for his commitment in defining a unified and internationally acclaimed Middle East music scene. Hollaphonic became the first ever middle eastern act to be featured, and their video shown, on MTV Dance[7]

March 2013, Hollaphonic performed live in front of a crowd of 40,000 at the Dubai World Cup Night at Meydan Racecourse alongside Seal. In December that year, Hollaphonic performed on the main stage along with headliners Calvin Harris, The Prodigy and Disclosure at Creamfields Abu Dhabi

March 2014, they were rewarded with ‘Best Dubai Act’ at the honorary Time Out Dubai Night Life Awards. They now have a total of three major awards including, ‘Trendsetters of 2013’ by Ahlan! Hot 100 and ‘Man At His Best 2013’ at the Esquire awards.

November 2014 they performed at the Formula One after-race concert at du Arena on Yas Island on the same bill as superstar DJ Armin van Buuren [8]

Performing to a sell-out crowd ahead of David Guetta at the popular Live at Atlantis concert On Friday 19 December, Hollaphonic, posed with an audience of 12,000 for Ahlan! at Atlantis, The Palm Beach taking the UAE’s biggest ever selfie. [9]
